Irina Klimova

Graduated from the Lenin Moscow State Teacher Training Institute in 1981, became a postgraduate student at the Department of English Philology of the Faculty of Philology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1989. Defended her PhD thesis on cognitive linguistics in 1992. Was a doctoral degree seeker at the Faculty of Philology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University from 1989 to 2002. Has been working at the Financial University since 2013. Has 33 years of experience in education. Disciplines taught:  Business Foreign Language, Special Terminology in Foreign Language -1 (bachelor degree program, Faculty of International Finance).  Member of the editorial boards of Nauchnye Zapiski Molodykh Issledovatelei (Young Researchers’ Scientific Notes) and Ekonomika, Nalogi, Pravo (Economics, Taxes, Law) Russian journals. Author of more than 100 publications on teaching methodology, textbooks, manuals, and more than 20 papers indexed by the Scopus system, by the Russian Science Citation Index system and reviewed by the Russian State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles. Participated in Erasmus + teaching staff academic mobility program. Has Letters of Commendation issued by the Financial University Rector, Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, Head of the Treasury of the Russian Federation, the Central Union of the Consumer Societies of the Russian Federation. Her research interests include innovative foreign languages teaching methodology.

Graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Lenin Moscow State Teacher Training Institute in 1977 (diploma cum laude).  Has 35 years of experience in higher education (incl. 25 years of teaching experience gained in the Financial University). Became Associate Professor in 2010.  Member of the Financial University Academic Council, the Academic Council of the Faculty of International Economic Relations, the Academic Council of the Faculty of International Finance, Financial University Council for the Promotion of Cultural Competence in Education, Council of the Department of Language Training. Member of the editorial board of Gumanitarnye Nauki, Vestnik Finuniversiteta  (Arts and Humanities, Financial University Bulletin) journal. Total volume of published research papers and works on teaching methodology: 335 printed pages. Her research interests include multinational states’ language policy issues; the role of the Russian language in the globalized world; cross-cultural communication and orientation programs for international students, pedagogical rhetoric. Has Letter of Commendation issued by the Government of the Russian Federation, Certificate of Merit issued by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation; obtained the Golden Badge of the Honorary Worker of the Financial University in 2014 (the year of the 95th Anniversary of the Financial University).

Natalya Kondrakhina

PhD (Philology) (specialism: literature of the peoples of foreign countries (European and American literature)); Associate Professor at the Department of English Language
Has 19 years of teaching experience gained in the Financial University. Was Head of the Financial University Department of the English Language and the Department of Foreign Languages-2 from 2008 to 2016. Is author of 66 papers (including several chapters within monographs) and 45 works on teaching methodology.  Her research interests include teaching methodology used when teaching special terminology in a foreign language to students of non-linguistic universities.

About the Department 

The Department’s strategic objective is to form competence in communication in a foreign language and cross-cultural communication skills in line with the international standards and requirements of the Department and the Council of Europe using innovative learning technologies that ensure use of the competences-based multi-level approach to teaching a foreign language. The focus is on the formation and development of professional competences needed for future academic and professional activity that could help improve the graduates’ competitiveness on the domestic and international labor market. The Department's key goal is to become the leading language training center in the country and to train highly-qualified experts in finance and economics who are in demand on the labor market, who have a system of values that reflects the concepts inherent to the Russian culture, and who can meet the challenges posed by the modern society and the competitive labor market.
The Department includes: Sub-department of Foreign Languages-1, Sub-department of Foreign Languages-2, Sub-department of Foreign Languages-3, and Sub-department of the Russian Language.
